Text Box: FRANKLY SCARLET Single dark pink flowers. Plant grows 5-6 feet.

Lotus can be grown in tubs or large containers as long as the soil is kept very wet by having at least 2-6 inches of water above the soil where they are planted. They prefer being planted in soil and they are heavy feeders. We do not recommend growing lotus in gravel or kitty litter.
This hardy lotus is a perennial plant and will go dormant in the winter, and will winter over in zone 4 and above if planted where the roots wont freeze.
The lotus prefer temperatures between 85-95 degrees and they like humidity, however, they will grow in hot and dry conditions, due to the way the leaves stand high above the water the wind makes the leaves turn brown and curl around the edges.
In optimum conditions will reach full potential in regards to height, leaf and bloom size. Here in southeastern Colorado the lotus do not grow as tall as lotus that grow in zones 7, 8, and 9 since we have a shorter growing season.
Please be advised lotus are very invasive if you are planning on planting in a natural pond.

Weather permitting we ship the lotus tubers starting in mid March and continue to early May.
