Iris Black GamecockText Box: IRIS BLACK GAMECOCK  Louisiana iris can be planted in or around your pond, as long as you keep the soil wet.  They should bloom in early to mid spring. The leaves can reach in height from 24 to 36 inches.  Leaves are slender blades, much like cattail leaves.  Weather permitting marginal and bog plants are shipped mid March through September

Depending on the weather, marginal and bog plants are ready to ship in March. Keep in mind we are in zone 5 and our plants are just coming out of dormancy in the early spring. This means that the plants will not be a full or awake as they will be later in the season. The most important thing to remember  is that the root system is healthy. Unless other wise stated the hardy marginal and bog plants will winter over in zone 5 however, keep in mind each pond has its own micro environment, so they may do fine in Zone 3 & 4.  We have done our best to give you  information on the description of the plant and how it will perform our information is based on growing the plant here in zone 5.
